Vacations In Exeter, Devon
When most folk discuss having a vacation in the GB they mostly only consider seaside resorts such as Weston-super-Mare, Brighton, Bournemouth and Bognor Regis. Infrequently people may consider having a short break in a particular county in England such as the county of Devon in the south of England but not very often do they think about having a short break in the city of Exeter. The following article discusses various factors why a vacation in Exeter is a clever idea.
The very first reasons for taking a short city break in Exeter is that there is cheap accommodation available with bed and breakfast in Exeter available in the region of £25 per night and lots of places around the £40 – £50 price range.
Of course there has to be more than a minimal price to entice you to visit a city and Exeter certainly has plenty to offer the possible tourist. You will find that there are many superb tourist attractions in the city centre and even more not too far away and if that is not sufficient then Plymouth is nearby and you will discover that there is also cheap Plymouth bed and breakfast and even more fantastic visitor attractions. Plus you will find that there are plenty of breathtaking sites to visit all along the nearby coast.
Where To Stay In Exeter
The Drewe Arms
This hotel is superb, it’s rooms are cheap but the building itself is a beautiful seventeenth century thatched inn situated on the Two Moors Way (a walkers route). Unfortunately it is roughly fifteen miles from the center of the city. If you need more luxury the inn also features four-poster rooms.
The Crawford Hotel
This hotel is lots closer to the city center, about 1.6 kilometers. It is a two star establishment with reasonable en suite accommodation and, importantly, 24 hour access to your room, great if you are going to be getting back very late or you will be needing to access the room throughout the day. If required there is Free wireless internet access in the public places of the hotel.
Places To Visit
In Exeter there are only a few of places worth visiting including; the Royal Albert Museum, St Peter’s Cathedral and Rougemont Castle. As I mentioned earlier in this article there is a small number of close by seaside villages to see the best being the old-fashioned villages of Seaton, Beer and Sidmouth.
Further away, in between Exeter and Plymouth is the virtually unpopulated moorland of the Dartmoor National Park with the general region having several visitor attractions to see including Buckland Abbey, A La Ronde and Buckfast Abbey along the main road, to Plymouth. Along the way you will pass by the Torbay area, which is made up of Paignton, Torquay and Brixham and is often referred to as the English Riviera region.
Exeter truly is a brilliant place in which to have a vacation however why not discuss having a 2 destination vacation and spend a few of nights/days in a nice hotel in Plymouth and tour the beautiful coast and countryside in between the two excellent cities?
